The Internet Archive seeks, collects and maintains all the information available on the Internet. I coordinate the data collection for every website that feeds into the Wayback Machine, which is the Internet Archive's searchable tool that provides access to the history of the Internet. The system and infrastructure I designed collects information from more than 1 billion websites every week. The tools and and software platforms I used to create this system include Python, Heritrix, Ubuntu Linux, Hadoop clusters, and custom designed software. This is a very significant Big Data project which must be constantly maintained, updated, and re-designed; it pushes the limits of what is possible with internet architecture.

Peeq was a start-up founded in Los Gatos, California that provided real-time information about where people are having fun and interacting on social media. Peeq was a mobile application with a front-end built in Javascript, with a back-end built with Linux, Apache, Postgres, and PHP. Phonegap was then used to port this application to both iOS and Andraoid.

Handstand was a mobile application developer that partnered with HTC to develop textbook and information sharing applications for use with tablets and smartphones. Our primary product was an application called Nota Reader which allowed for customized content such as video, text, and interactive applications to be added to a main piece of content such as a textbook.The applications and software used to develop these applications included PHP, Ruby on Rails, Linux, and Apache.

Managed a small engineering team to run and maintain software for Netbase's knowledge search operations. To operate this system, we crawled billions of websites and information sources, built custom data storage and indexing software, and delivered actionable results to customers such as Johnson and Johnson, the US Army, and Kraft Foods. The tools my team used to operate and design these systems included PHP, Linux, Apache, Postgres, and Solr.

Zembu was a start-up founded at the height of the dot.com boom in Silicon Valley. I joined the company to build a 45 person engineering and operations team to develop software very similar to the modern-day Amazon Cloud services. To build this service we used Postgres, Sun Microsystems hardware and software, and developed custom software that didn't exist for the problems we needed to solve.

Designed, built and operated their research lab IT infrastructure as a consultant in Palo Alto while also working at NASA.

Worked at NASA Ames Research Center during the development and deployment of the modern Internet. Pioneered early network storage, communications protocols, open source software, RAID, TCP/IP and developed early routers and gateways. My team applied these solutions and projects to both airplane design and the space program, to modernize the computers behind our most advanced aerial vehicles.I had the privilege of dealing with one of the first major Internet security problems, which dealt with Robert Norris' creation of the first Internet worm that prompted a criminal trial.
