A project consists of various phases, domains and domain experts, therefore, it is essential to communicate the significant aspects such as requirements, concepts considered, and the various interfaces, i.e., inputs and outputs of each domain. In Allseas engineering B.V., considering the current design templates and cycles, it is necessary to improve the communication regarding the interfaces between various components among the team members of different domains; hence, SYSMOD methodology can be implemented. Due to the unavailability of dedicated system engineers in Allseas, the tool has to be designed in a way that team members without system engineering knowledge can use it. Therefore, Allseas Profile is developed. The Allseas profile is an extension of the SysML profile where the components of various domains such as electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics and controls systems used in Allseas are considered. Also, the tool has been integrated with commonly used tools in Allseas namely MS Excel and MS Visio to improve the efficiency. As a case study, Grit Basting Machine is designed using the developed Allseas Profile and compared with the existing design methodology used in Allseas, and the results are evaluated. From the results, it is understood that the system developed with the Allseas profile in the combination of MS Excel and MS Visio has significantly improved the communication between team members regarding the interface between various components. In pipelay process, it is highly recommended to cover the area of the welded joints of the pipe to prevent corrosion. If fusion bonded epoxy coating process is used to avoid the pipe from rusting, it is necessary to clean the surface of the pipe before performing the coating operation. Grit Blasting machine designed and developed by Allseas engineering B.V. can be used to achieve the cleaning process.In this study, this tool is used as an example to reconsider existing design approach that seems to lack the interface and requirement traceability between different components of the machine. In this report, the design of the Grit Blasting machine is reconsidered using SYSMOD methodology that helps to achieve a good interface and requirement traceability between the components. The model has been implemented using MS Visio and MS Excel. The drawings of SYSMOD have been performed using MS Visio. Calculations have been done in MS Excel. Eventually, MS Visio diagrams and data from MS Excel have been linked together to obtain real-time changes in design parameters, their effect on the design of subsystems of the Grit Blasting Machine and their clear visualisation for the user.
