Young KBC is an internal staff circle which organises activities for every KBC colleague who feels young. We are not centred around one hobby, but provide a variety of activities with the focus on connecting with each other, networking, developing new skills, ... but overall just having fun!

WINOW is a start-up which helps people to find their wine taste through a fun, interactive and educational wine tasting game.

I was the president of youth centre Mix-Up in Zellik, near Brussels, where young people of all cultures, religions, sexual orientations and genders, can come together and engage in conversation with each other.

My team and I were selected for this unique 7 month start-up programme for entrepreneurial talent at Ghent University.

Python programming to process data within the AI team. I wrote Python code to process big data, filter useful content and convert it into the correct format for the machine learning model. In that way, I learnt how to teach AI with different kinds of data.

I did my master dissertation in collaboration with SICK Sensor Intelligence and was titled: 'Industry 4.0 demonstrator: study and realization of communication through fast and slow loop'.My master dissertation presents a method of approach for building a setup with the newest generations of sensors, Sensor Integration Gateways and Cloud Gateways, in order to increase the productivity, flexibility and transparency of data transmission in a structured way via analytical dashboards, which is one of the key elements for modern automation, and even of greater importance with the upcoming Industry 4.0: “a trend towards automation and data exchange”. Data communication can be established with two different transmission rates depending on the urgency of the data: from the lowest sensor and actuator level to the PLC level via ‘fast loop’, and to the cloud level over ‘slow loop’ communication via the TDC-E. The more user-friendly visualization of analysis data is used to foresee and schedule when maintenance will be required under the given circumstances, and to monitor the current status from different applications in the manufacturing process. This master dissertation proves the efficiency and transparency that can be obtained when using similar setups, based on the TDC-E and SICK cloud platform. The productivity, flexibility and transparency of data transmission increases significantly via the analytical dashboards, which is needed with the upcoming Industry 4.0 trends that require important process data to be within reach for everyone, anywhere, anytime. Monitoring applications in the manufacturing process in order to foresee and schedule when maintenance will be required under the given circumstances, don’t require difficult programming anymore thanks to these user-friendly dashboards.Award: Solvay Award for Ghent University 2020Award for the most innovative engineering master dissertation of the year.
