Website: https://lemmykc.github.ioI am a mathematician, musician, and hiker who is still figuring out how to summarise my interests into one clean sentence. I recently completed a masters thesis studying the theory of deep learning (AI) in which I applied Singular Learning Theory to the question of why neural networks generalise as well as they do. Currently I am an independent researcher in the field of technical AI Safety. Prior to the Masters of Mathematics, I completed a Diploma of Music in Clarinet performance. I am deeply passionate about making Australian classical music more relevant and engaging for the audience it seeks to serve, by transforming what we play and how it is played - and I am also a keen conductor. After completing the masters in almost complete isolation during two years of lockdowns, I then went and became a hiking guide on the Overland Track for 18 months. Traversing the magical Tasmanian wilderness over 16 times was an immense privilege and will hold a special place in my hear forever more.
