Lena Johnson is an Atlanta native and a graduate of Columbia University. While there, she studied American Studies with a concentration in ethnicity and race. She also served as captain for the Columbia University Fencing team for two years. She won two NCAA Team Championships, and three Ivy-League Team Championships as an athlete at Columbia. As a member of the national fencing team, she traveled to over 20 countries, and she has deep educational experiences pertaining to people of different cultures. She officially retired from fencing in 2018 and she became a teacher shortly after the covid pandemic. During her time as a student-athlete, she began to work as a nanny for families in the New York City area, and it was there that she discovered her love for early childhood education and learning. Lena comes from a teaching background at the Toddler, Preschool and Kindergarten levels, and she thoroughly enjoys organizing lessons that help others grow to be the best they can be. Lena also enjoys working out, dancing and visiting new restaurants when she is not working.
