Freshmen Experience Success Course (NSCI 190A). One of the goals of this course is for students to learn and adopt organizational, time-management, study and test-taking skills as they engage in their initial freshman course learning experiences. College is different from high school and success demands that students independently manage their time and studies more intensely and at a faster pace than they have often experienced in their past. The second goal is to increase student awareness of science and math-related career options.

Direct and facilitate all pre-health program planning, conduct individual in-depth counseling sessions as well as daily office management throughout the year.Plan and execute Annual Community College Counselors Conference. The objective conference is to provide 100+ community college counselors with information that will assist them as they provide academic and career guidance to students who plan to enter the health professions.Plan and executed Annual Health Professions Fair. 50+ Programs from around the country table on the campus to recruit CSULB Students to health profession programs.Conduct in-depth one on one counseling sessions with undergraduate, graduate and alumni interested in pursuing health professional programs such as medical school, pharmacy school, dental school etc.Create and execute workshops and programing to provide students information on various health professions including informational presentations and freshman/sophomore workshops.Acquire $12K+ in scholarship funding from top test prep companies. Secured yearly commitments. Seven underrepresented students received scholarships for test prep that they otherwise did not have the means to afford.Voted to the board of Western Association of Health Professions Advisors. Provide academic counseling to at risk undergraduate students, including but not limited to 2.0-2.3, Neighborhood Academic Initiative group, spring admits and transfer students. Provide individualized outreach to students based on identified risk factors; assisting them in developing individual plans for retention and success after graduation.Develop programming to advance the transfer student experience. Created and executed TransferMation Series to connect transfer students to each other as well as vital resources on campus such as the career center, health and wellness, financial aid, articulation and much more.Utilize connections with Upward Bound to recruit admitted students to attend Summer Bridge Program. Improved and streamlined Summer Bridge application process. Improved Summer Bridge protocol by implementing entrance and exit interviews as well as development and analysis of assessment tools throughout the program. Work closely with various campus partners to provide students with the most efficient counseling experiences. Referring students when necessary. Follow-up with each student to ensure success. Design and develop print publications, brochures and informational sheets to inform students on various academic and career paths.

Advise undergraduate, graduate and alumni interested in pursuing health professional programs such as medical school, pharmacy school, dental school etc.Review and assess personal statements and interview skills among other duties to appropriately prepare students to become strong applicants for graduate school.Developed physician mentor program in conjunction with Saint Vincent’s Hospital in which students have the opportunity to shadow and explore various specialties within medicine. Serve as a resource and mentor to health related clubs and organizations such as African Americans in Health, Female Undergraduates Leading and Educating in Science and the Inter-Health Council. Create and execute workshops and programing to provide students information on various health professions including informational presentations and freshman/sophomore workshops.Provide comprehensive outreach to students who are at risk of not meeting satisfactory academic progress required for health professional schools.Work closely with institutional staff to ensure that student inquiries are strategically coordinated and addressed in a timely manner, leading to an inspiring student experience while supporting academic integrity and institutional policies.

Develop personal education plans for 60 students during weekly school site visits and maintain open communication with parents regarding students’ academic progress. Counsel and mentor students on academic and extracurricular requirements for college admission as well as walk students through the application process.Facilitate several freshman and senior seminars each year. Conduct workshops on college 101, learning styles, goal setting, interviewing skills, the college freshman experience and financial aid. Plan and execute several California college tours for 80+ students. Book hotels, make reservations with schools, reserve meals and book buses for the week. Create and balance the budget for programming such as college tours and senior dinners.Interview, hire, and directly supervise eight Resident Assistants and eight instructors for summer residential program. 80 students are housed on USC’s campus for five weeks to take classes and prepare for the college transition. Provided professional development opportunities, such as cover letter, resume, networking training for students.

Acts as a representative of Marymount College and is responsible for application evaluation, general outreach and recruitment, admitted student yield activities, building and maintaining relationships with schools and counselors, and community & family outreach.Plan and implement innovative programs and organize effective workshops, conferences and other activities to present information about Marymount College such as Preview Day and Five Star Tour.Responsible for communicating information about Marymount College admissions and academic policies to prospective students, parents, school counselors, community college counselors and the general public.Advise and assist high school counselors and independent educational consultants.Conduct pre-admissions interviews with prospective students; evaluate their grades, entrance examinations and letters of recommendation to determine their eligibility for admissions.Maintain all data as it relates to the metrics of the admissions department and also assists the director in the development and implementation of admission strategies and objectives.

Travel to multiple cities as a representative of Cal Poly Pomona to attend college fairs, high schools and various community events.Responsible for communicating information about Cal Poly Pomona admissions and academic policies to prospective students, parents, school counselors, community college counselors and the general public.Convey knowledge of University policies and procedures to prospective students.
