I'm co-founder of Leanpub, an amazing and unique platform for writing and selling ebooks, supporting a global community of readers and independent authors & publishers.I have a pretty diverse professional background. I wrote a DPhil in English at Balliol College, Oxford, on the politics of clarity and obscurity, and then did my time investment banking in London, working on European M&A transactions in the highly regulated utilities sector, an investment class favored by those seeking long-term, stable returns, like unions.After that, I worked on a serial novel satirizing the connection between nationalism and literature, and cofounded an artsy nonprofit effort to publish a truly global poetry anthology, and at the same time award the first major literary award based on a crowdfunding model.After that, I moved on to Leanpub, and also worked on a collaboration and communication product from the beginning of 2012 to mid-2015, before focusing all my attention on Leanpub. I wear many hats at Leanpub, including hosting our Frontmatter podcast, where I get to do in-depth long-form interviews with interesting authors and experts on book publishing from all around the world.For a few years I also maintained a unique hockey stats website at http://playoffindex.com, which is offline now, though I may bring it back someday. The idea was that sports standings should be presented in meaningful charts, rather than mere tables of numbers.
