I assist veterans who have a significant barrier to employment. My time is divided between outreach activities to increase awareness of our program, and working 1-on-1 with veterans in all aspects of effectively conducting a job search. In addition to the standard job search processes (resume writing, interviewing, etc.) I connect veterans with community resources to assist with life issues that may be impacting their employability.I utilize my experience in public information, recruiting, training, and especially counseling in my daily activities.My goal is to aid each veteran I encounter to overcome their personal barriers and attain meaningful employment.

I assist soldiers and veterans planning to attend college as they transition out of the Army with the objective of giving them the knowledge and tools to make informed decisions connected to their professional goals. This includes one-on-one counseling (average 33 hours per month) about a range of subjects from VA GI Bill benefits, researching quality indicators of higher education institutions and career colleges, to evaluating degree programs in relation to career goals. In addition to the individual counseling I facilitate a weekly, 2-day, Accessing Higher Education workshop. During this weekly workshop I lead up to 30 students through the process of assessing career goals, evaluating schools and programs, researching funding sources, and how to apply for admission to a college. I have had the honor of assisting more than 500 soldiers and veterans through this individual counseling and 700 plus through the workshops.

Assist prospective students in selecting CTU academic programs that fit their professional goals, and guide them through the enrollment process. Develops professional relationships with local military influencers, and works military/veteran education and career events to generate awareness of university opportunities for active duty service members, veterans, and family members. I helped more than 100 individuals begin their education with 70% achieving there goal or continuing to successfully work toward their goals.

Employed a variety of teaching methods (lecture, guided discussion, dem-perf, etc.) to instruct 16-student classes on public communication principles and methods. Conducted scenario driven training exercises in the classroom and the field. Evaluated student performance and recorded/tracked grades. Researched and wrote lesson plans used in training 300 graduates annually.

Assisted/advised the Provost on academic & management issues impacting 26 communications courses taught by 200+ instructors with 3,000 graduates annually. Evaluated courses in relation to the ISD process and achievement of learning objectives. Authored assessment reports and briefed executive staff on findings, best practices, and improvement opportunities. Additionally, served as the USAF Element Senior Enlisted Advisor; advised commander on policies and issues affecting 50 USAF enlisted personnel. Counseled/guided USAF personnel in professional development and issues of standards.
