In Lenin’s role as Finance Manager at ETAS (WA) Pty Ltd, he was responsible for leading a team of five across Australia and Mongolia to ensure the smooth running of all finance functions within the company. They were presented with challenging conditions in Mongolia as the company was still in its infancy in this region and there were significant cash flow problems of which he inherited. Lenin was employed as a Finance Officer with Ajilon, a leading information technology consulting company. Initially recruited as a timesheet administrator, he broadened his responsibilities and gained responsibility for all invoicing throughout the resources and government sectors. He was also responsible for obtaining and cost controlling the purchase orders associated with these invoices.Lenin's key responsibilities were as follows• Editing the weekly timesheet data into a quality report to be used by project management• Monthly reconciliation and invoicing of timesheet data ( approx $5m per month)• Monitoring WIP and providing internal documentation to report extended WIP.• Production of an ageing debtors report and following up with suppliers.• Production of manual invoices and completing necessary documentation.• Forecasting project income and providing comparisons with actuals• Periodical reporting of sector performance• Liase with Accounts Payables on third party invoices• Assist consultants with timesheet queries• Report on effectiveness of accounting software and investigate benefit of switching.Skills Gained• Exposure to the setup, maintenance and cessation of service contracts.• Advanced skills working on Oracle, Peoplesoft and Quadrem (accounting softwares)• Raw data compilation and significance editing• Further development of Microsoft Excel skills

Lenin was employed as a tax accountant handling a small portfolio of clients and was extremely fortunate to be given the responsibility to interact with his clients. During this role he came to successfully manage the interests of a wide variety of clients with differing needs.Key Responsibilities• Preparation of periodical taxation requirements. This entailed quarterly activity statement reporting as well as the annual completion of tax returns for a wide variety of clients. These clients ranged from a simple individual tax return to small business. A large portion of my clients were farmers, but I also represented many different clients such as fisherman, property investors and entrepreneurs. • Preparations of financial statements for these same clients. These statements were prepared ensuring that all relevant Australian accounting standards were satisfied.• General Taxation Advice/Consulting. Many clients would seek advice over a variety of matters which could range from a simple tax question to lengthy tax effect advice. This also included business consulting and short term financial planning.• Small business bookkeeping. One of my more unusual roles saw me involved in the day to day running of a client’s kebab shop which was suffering from poor cash flow and creditor control. I became hands on and over a period of time improved the performance of the business and established controls to ensure the long term viability of the business.Skills Gained:• Ability to prepare periodical financial statements and taxation requirements.• Intricate knowledge of all facets of the Australian taxation system.
