Dr. Lenn Murrelle, Venebio’s principal founder, has nearly 25 years of experience in developing, leading and contributing to large-scale research projects across a number of life sciences areas in 12 countries. His areas of focus have included case-control association studies, twin and family studies, pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacogenetic safety studies, preclinical molecular studies, and biomarker discovery and validation involving high-throughput genomic, epigenomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and metabolomic markers. Through his previous positions in major multinational corporations, research universities and international consulting, he has extensive experience in study design; data management, analysis, and interpretation; strategic project portfolio management; and collaboration management in neuropsychiatry, substance abuse, gastrointestinal, respiratory, and cardiovascular research. He has directed complex projects involving the creation and management of multidisciplinary teams of professionals across industry, academia and biotechnology. Major funding sources for these projects have included the US National Institutes of Health, US State Department, Organization of American States, World Health Organization, and major philanthropic organizations. Dr. Murrelle has co-authored more than 100 scientific publications, technical reports and presentations.Since 1997, Dr. Murrelle has been either full-time or adjunct faculty in Human Genetics and Epidemiology at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Medicine or an adjunct in Epidemiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Public Health.
