I have a diverse career spanning CSIRO, universities, defence science and technology, startup company and defence industry. I started in electrical engineering in the design and development of control, communications, phased array radar and sensor systems in industry. I have experience leading large research projects in government laboratories, universities and industry and large international collaborative programs. For the past two decades I have been instrumental in the creation and nurturing of government, university and industry partnerships to realise impactful research in high tech areas of defence. My personal industry and product development areas include multifunction apertures for radar and communications, cognitive communications for tactical radio networks, Adapt-Sense networks, Electromagnetic Situation Awareness, large scale underwater sensing and threat evaluation and weapon assignment optimisation for integrated air defence systems. All of these are with industry.I have established my company, Australian Systems Research, to see advanced engineering and the translation of research into advanced products. The company is working with other companies on advanced sensor integration for asymmetric capability and laser power beaming with PELOS. Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering since 2004.
