My particular interests are nutrigenomics and food as medicine at present with additional interest in canine and child nutrition.Delivering community education in many settings is something I thoroughly enjoy. In the past I have helped to deliver the Queen Margaret University Broken Bodies nutritional element, appeared in the BBC Food Detectives series, helped deliver International Food workshops for young people, codelivered and steered group work at Primary School level in a programme also called Food Detectives educating young minds about food fraud. I have also designed a Cooking With Kids community education course, yet to be rolled out. Community education is something I am passionate about, I got my first taste for this when I assisted Edinburgh Community Foods with the running of a meal preparation course for mothers and caregivers during my Masters in 2014. I would love to do more of this type of work.As an adult with ADHD and a single parent caring for a child with ADHD I have a unique ability to appreciate the challenges of ensuring families can provide a healthy balanced diet and reconnect with the joy of cooking and eating together. I also have several chronic health conditions which have required some refinement to my personal diet too, this helps me to appreicate that adaption and flexibility within a persons own circumstances is an essential part of encouraging life long dietary change.
