• Using a mouse-whisker-inspired fin sensor to enable multidirectional airflow sensing on a small drone• Developing script to allow a drone to autonomously fly towards an airflow source based on inputs from the fin’s sensor• Integrating sensor hardware with drone hardware to enable stable flight and simple software handshaking

TJ Makes is a brand I made to share my personal projects with the world. Putting my work on public display pushes me to follow through. I post most of my projects on my Instagram, but I recently started a YouTube channel to give more context to these builds and blog posts.

• Proving a novel MEMS-based LiDAR scanner for micro-robotics, UAVs, and robotic insects through a small drone and custom, 3D printed hardware• Programming an autonomous flight path in Python for the drone that can be corrected when the drone senses an object with the LiDAR• Designing and manufacturing packaging hardware and circuitry to enable portability and scalability of the system

Engineering Design and Society is a new class aimed to help underclassmen gain valuable technical hands-on skills, programming, and human-centered design experience. Throughout the semester, they work on multiple projects varying in complexity using Arduino, 3D printing, hand tools, and sensors. • Creating educational tutorial videos for Tinkercad Circuits, an electronics prototyping platform• Assisting students with their creations in class and in office hours• Holding office hours for students to ask questions and work on personal projects• Setting up lab in the new Herbert Wertheim Center for Excellence

•Developing low power LIDAR by using a mirror actuated by microelectromechanical (MEM) technology•Programming microcontroller to send laser pulses that when reflected by the MEM mirror, creates a 3D point cloud •Designing and manufacturing packaging for the LIDAR system and circuitry to enable portability•Writing a paper to be submitted to the IEEE Sensors Journal

• Developed design for automated separation mechanism for autonomous submarine sections in order to simplify process and reduce wear• Programmed controls for stepper motors to drive lead screws for the separation mechanism• Designed and manufactured laser cut, acrylic brackets for motion capture hardware and soft actuator electronics

• Started a design team to make room for minorities and underrepresented students in the maker/design team space• Managing hardware and software teams to develop two multidisciplinary projects for faculty• Developing software and hardware peripherals for an autonomous drone that tracks radiation plumes funded by a Department of Defense grant• Building an automated grinder that processes failed 3D prints into 3mm particles to be melted back into PLA filament• Communicating with other minority engineering organizations and companies to build a diverse talent pool of innovators

• Managing project to maximize interior space by identifying opportunities to reduce the gap between body and headliner• Leading efforts to resolve major carpet and floormat design problems in future vehicle programs• Wiring photoresistor circuits to perform tests measuring intensity of LEDs for level 2+ autonomous interior alert lighting

•Implemented new design team where marginalized students learn practical engineering skills through hands on projects•Members learned how to code microcontrollers, build circuits, solid model, and 3D print through custom curriculum

•Facilitated seven workshops for academic excellence, entrepreneurship, and 3D printing for the development of the chapter•Assisted with community outreach and the engagement of the next generation of engineers•Represented the organization at multiple tabling events around the university and at national conventions

• Assembled components for and validated prototype C13 engine to prove design and put engine into production• Aided development of a single cylinder engine test cell by gathering parts, analyzing documents, and taking measurements• Proposed self-driving solution for intra-facility travel along with other solutions to make transport easier

• Designed and prototyped new parts for 3D printers with CAD and 3D printing• Assembled and tested 3D printers • Represented company at local conferences to promote business

- Led team of five to develop a 3D printed articulated prosthetic arm, accompanied by a game simulation for users to learn their arm- Integrated an industry first double barrel worm gear drive system for finger and wrist movement- Facilitated communication and managed deadlines across the team- Wrote 20 page technical proposal for Conrad Spirit of Innovation Competition- Became finalists in Conrad Spirit of Innovation Competition and presented at the Kennedy Space Center
