39 years experience in Defence Science and Technology (DST) as a chemist/materials scientist using strong problem solving skills, clear ability to initiate new science programs and to remain at the cutting edge of technology. Internationally recognised as an Australian expert in defence pyrotechnics and infrared signature management. Over 30 years, scientific administrative experience with proficiency in task planning, budgetary and staff management, mentoring and training. Provided science and technology direction and management of 11 staff of the Pyrotechnic Group (Weapons Systems Division), 11 Professional staff of the Ship Survivability Group (Maritime Platforms Division) and 19 staff of the Electromagnetic Signature Group (Maritime Platforms Division). Provided decision making input to several defence acquisition programs. More recently managed and provided scientific leadership for 38 DST scientists working on electro-optic (EO), RF and anechoic signature management technologies for naval platforms and land vehicles, paints and coatings and platform corrosion/degradation control for naval ships and aircraft.
