I design physical substation upgrades as required by the client for voltage systems ranging from 4.16kV to 500kV. The scopes of these projects include, but are not limited to:-Conduit and trench layout and design-Grounding system updates as determined by the grounding analysis-Bus replacement and revision as required for new equipment connections-Switch house/control building AC and DC distribution center replacements/additions-Equipment replacements, additions, and removals. BES (Bulk Electrical System) Equipment that I am familiar with includes, but is not limited to: power transformers, circuit breakers, circuit switchers, gang switches, voltage and current instrument transformers, and surge protection devices. Typical calculations for design work included:-Conduit Fill Calculations-Voltage Drop Calculations-Ampacity Load Calculations for AC and DC panelThis design experience has made me well versed in NEC design code in addition to typical client standards in regards to grounding, clearance requirements, system loading requirements, and constructability in design.
