My main project has been on a development of a new embankment and footpath on a coastal road, spanning 120m in length; to improve road stability and pedestrian access. This major project was given to me to bring to construction, with the internal workforce. The gateway system has been adopted for the project, my involvement started from gateway 0 (Project Inception) through to Gateway 2 & 3 (Design stage/Preparation of Contract). The development is within several Sites of Special Interest (SSIs) including archaeological and ecological zones, therefore heightened attention is required to ensure appropriate measures are adopted to satisfy the necessary government departments. Other responsibilities:- Developing policy for the Highway Asset Management Strategy.- Assessing & responding to flood risk assessments for planning applications. - Coastal Asset management, integrating GIS software with linked AutoCAD drawings, maintenance reports & SAP to accurately represent assets. - Coastal inspections, conducting visual inspections of coastal sea defences, critically analysing the condition of major sea defences.- Submitting planning application for small scale civil works.
Club Captian - Sailing Club
This is a key role in the University of Portsmouth Sailing Club. Involving the coordination of all professional and competitive sailing, along with the organisation and leadership of a sub-committee. Within this role, I was able to liaise with the university and set up a successful long-term coaching scheme for multiple disciplines, at a cost in line with the assigned budget. The scheme was demonstrated to be highly effective with the club obtaining the highest BUSC points in the last 5 years.
