Voluntary position. Estonian Association of Engineers joins together all the organizations connecting engineers of different fields in Estonia. It is a member of Engineers Europe. It strives to promote engineering in the society and to assure the quality of engineering education and practice.

Voluntary position. ESTIS is a non-profit organization that joins engineers, academic staff and students in the field of energy technology and thermal engineering. Itorganizes lectures, training and field trips, gives out certificates for engineers and promotes the field in the society and especially among potential students.

Our clients are mainly industries looking to increase their energy and resource efficiency and to plan and implement investments into their production. We offer a wide range of engineering and consultation services in Baltic and Nordic countries. Our team consists of five engineers and one process analyst.

My main tasks were:▪Preparing of the development plan for making use of energy production by-products;▪Initiating and managing of projects.At the peak I was managing 4 projects - usage of by-products in construction, usage of ash in agriculture, industrial parks. mining residue landfill utilization - and investigating various business opportunities. At that period I was instructing 4 highly motivated trainees and working together with a very talented project manager who ran the projects for mine backfilling and using ash in soil stabilization.

My main tasks were:▪Analysis and technical support in retort gas development projects;▪Coordinating consultation works of solving Enefit280 oil plant’s technical problems and development of technical solutions for a new oil plant.This period greatly improved my technical knowledge of oil shale, oil production and combustion technologies. I did my best to help ramp up the Enefit280 oil plant and to make sure the next plant would use the best available technology.

My main tasks were:▪Finding, initiating and developing projects for new biomass Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plants in the Baltics and for more efficient heat production in the company (including in Tallinn and in Narva)▪Preparing a strategy for cogeneration development in the BalticsIt was very interesting to find project opportunities in Latvia and Lithuania and do the pre-development and negotiating work. However the company's focus shifted only on oil production and so for half a year in 2013 I was also managing the oil production by-product retort gas combustion project. I was investigating possibilities, doing analyses, meeting and visiting suppliers and taking offers for different technologies - gas engines, gas turbines, boilers and gas cleaning. Then again I fully focused on renewable projects until eventually all the development was halted and I joined the Oil&Gas development team where I also participated in the retort gas project.

My main tasks were:▪Managing of Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant development projects;▪Finding and negotiating new projects in Estonia and Latvia;▪Dimensioning, planning, tendering and contract negotiations of Paide CHP plant project.From 2008 to 2011 I was proudly a part of the small 5-person team that built up from scratch the small cogeneration business in Eesti Energia. 20 million EUR was invested into the business in 2009-2014. Later the business was combined with the rest of the renewable projects and is making a nice return for the Eesti Energia group.Most interesting other projects I managed were 2 cogeneration plants in Latvia, 20 MW Accumulation Battery Park negotiated between the state and a Japanese corporation and for a period the 25 MW wood chip CHP plant planned in subsidiary company in Kohta-Järve, shares of which were as a result sold for 5,6 million EUR to co-shareholder VKG. I fully focused on managing the Paide CHP project from the beginning of 2011.

My main tasks were:▪Modeling with Balmorel electricity market model;▪Analyses to estimate best future investments into power generation.As I showed initiative and helped with managing the first Combined Heat and Power Plant (CHP) projects and was eager to focus on that, I was promoted to project manager rather fast, but agreed to continue my duties as an analyst on the side. Most interesting analyses were the 300 MW Auvere power plant project and the Pumped Storage Plant.
