Thesis title: "Assigning Inbound flights to baggage retrieval belts: A simulation study on the impact of stochasticity on the performance of different assignment heuristics"Thesis abstract: For a European airport, the assignment of incoming flights to baggage belts is done based on a meta-heuristic approach that was implemented by ORTEC. The goal of the optimization is to minimize the number of flights assigned to the same belt at the same time, while incorporating the business rules required by the customer. The level of uncertainty involved in the estimation of the different process times in this assignment problem proves to not only have an impact on the preferred parameterization of the solution approach, but also on choosing which algorithm would perform best for this problem. The goal of the research is to provide an overview of which solution approaches are preferable for different levels of uncertainty.I finished my thesis with a 9/10.

During my time at Ergo Design I was involved in the design and optimization of an highly automated production line. In order to do so, I build multiple 3D simulation models of possible production lines from the ground up. I finished my thesis with an 8/10.
