Head Of Research & Development, Wimax/Lte Radio Access BusinessNokia Siemens Networks 2011 - 2012Espoo, Southern Finland, FiMotorola sold their networks business unit to NSN in May 2011 and I followed that path to NSN; where I was tapped to help package 4G WiMAX technology for sale and to promote the sale from NSN to NewNet.Accountable for 300 member organization with 220 Engineers and 7 direct reporting staff, and budget of $50M for 2 product initiatives. Laid groundwork for 3g/LTE Small Cell initiative and directed R&D for WiMAX. Key role in divesting business to NewNet, which included presentations to their private equity leads and their CEO and CTO. Collaborated with NewNet executive team on carve out activities. For the LTE Small Cell initiative, directed ~100 engineering resources to invent new distributed 4G/3G/WiFi Small Cell architecture that would be the basis for a new product line now targeted for commercial release in 2013 enabling entrance into a new +$3B telecom Small Cell market.• Directed product development and field support strategy for more than 30 commercial carriers on global basis.• Created new development organization targeting the emerging 3g/LTE small cell market; managed 3rd party partnerships with key SoC and ODM vendors. -
