Being one of the new promising technologies at S&T, AIR-Portal is able to deliver daily updated, hourly air quality data over urban areas in Europe at high, street-level resolution. Our mission is to enable insight into local air quality levels for everyone who wants to know. S&T has decided to turn this project into a new intracompany startup. My role in that startup is to lead the team that is responsible for the AIR-Portal system's software design, implementation, and operation.

At S&T I work on a number of different projects for the European Space Agency (ESA), most notably as lead architect and developer for the Mission Execution Crew Assistant (MECA) projects. These research projects aim to increase the autonomy of astronaut-computer teams on board the Ineternational Space Station or on planetary missions.I have recently also worked (as project leader or as software engineer) on projects related to earth observation & remote sensing, constraint-based capacity planning, and earth-observation data processing architectures.

The Hague

As S&T contractor for NCIA I provided research & development, documentation, and administrative support to various semantic interoperability projects at the Agency (such as e.g. the TIDE initiative). More recently I have been involved in architectural and requirements analysis for NATO's information sharing capabilities.

I worked in the Simulators group at what was at the time TNO-FEL, the TNO Physics and Electronics Laboratory.Amongst other activities I was lead architect and developer on the Ketensimulator project for the Scheepvaart en Transport College in Rotterdam, and member of the project management and developers' support team for the DiMuNDS 2000 multinational NATO simulation interoperability federation.

I worked for Prof. Henk Sips in the Parallel and Distributed Systems group (PDS) of the faculty of Applied Physics (relocated later to the faculty of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science).I was a Linux/Macintosh system administrator for our group while also performing specific research and program development on the Rotan language that was an extension of my PhD work on data parallel compilers.
