At the end of 2022 Leo Campbell formally retired from architectural practice. Prior to this, in late 2019, as principal and founding director of Campbell Luscombe Architects, he merged the practice with the Bickerton Masters Group, to form BM_Campbell Luscombe.Prior to retirement Leo was a registered architect for 46 years in NSW as well as being registered in Victoria and the ACT. Prior to the merger, Leo led the Campbell Luscombe Architects project teams on residential, seniors housing, aged care, public works, educational, urban design, multiple unit housing and interiors projects.Over his 46 years in architectural practice, his dedication to his clients, through design excellence has seen him amass a wealth of experience, receive over 25 accolades and awards, given national conference papers and contributed to, and featured in, a number of journals, magazines and books. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects, a founding member of the Architecture Association Australia, and is highly respected within the architectural profession, especially within the seniors living and aged care sector. In 2011 he was awarded “The most Outstanding Architect in over 50’s Housing in the World - 2011” at the Global Over 50’s Housing Awards in London UK.He has demonstrated comprehensive leadership skills, co-ordinating large project teams, client liaison, user consultation, and manages projects throughout the entire process of design, documentation and construction phase of their delivery.Following graduation with honours from the School of Architecture at UNSW in 1976, and subsequent extensive overseas travel and work experience, he established the architectural practice of Campbell Luscombe Associates in 1977. He completed a Masters Degree in Architectural Design in 1981.
