Leo Kim is an award-winning cellist both internationally and domestically. Leo is also recognized as a multicultural business professional with extensive knowledge in investing and curating in both the performing and visual arts industries. Leo holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Cello Performance, with a double major in Business Management from the National University of Singapore, and earned his Master's Degree in Arts and Cultural Management from the Pratt Institute and a Master in Law degree from the University of Pennsylvania's Carey Law School. Artist Profile:Korean cellist Leo Kim started playing the cello at the age of 7. After graduating from Yewon Middle school and the Seoul Arts High School, he studied at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (YSTCM), National University of Singapore. His first major communication with the audience was while performing in a concert organized by International Vaccine Institute, Seoul, South Korea. Following this pivotal moment and given his strong belief in music, he decided to major in performance and proceeded to study with cellists Ho-Jung Kim, Ji-Sook Shin, Young-Rim Yang, and Li-Wei Qin.From an early age, Leo won the Music Education News Competition, Yejin Music Competition, Shinye Music Competition, and J & A Competition while distinguishing himself with his compelling performances. He also won the top prize in the Ehwa & Kyunghyang Newspaper Competition and the Strad Magazine Competition, and 2nd prize in the Classical Music Magazine Competition. He strives for excellence in all aspects of cello playing, not just as a soloist. His passion for ensemble playing led him to take part in the Yewon Ensemble Concert, and he was a subsequent prize winner in the Seoul Teenagers’ Ensemble Competition. In 2015, Leo won the concerto competition at Seoul Arts High School (SAHS) and was awarded the honor of performing Beethoven’s Triple Concerto in Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall with the SAHS Youth Symphony Orchestra. In 2017, he appeared with the National University of Singapore Symphony Orchestra (NUSSO) in the YSTCM Concert Hall. He won the New York Artists International Competition, the Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition in Salzburg, The North International Music Competition in Stockholm, Sweden, and the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music Concerto Competition in the Lower String Category. He had performed in numerous concert halls like Carnegie Hall, Philharmonie Berlin, Mozarteum, Parco Della Musica, Victoria Theatre, and Radio City Music Hall.
