Leon du Rand is a passionate, resourceful and talented professional leader with more than 30 years working experience, mostly in financial services and consulting. As a seasoned Banking and IT professional he has worked in local and international banks, performing various senior management and executive roles. His tenure at the Absa Group covered more than 21 years, where he held General Management and Group Executive positions. During 2002 he received the CIO of the Year Award from the Computer Society of South Africa. Leon was a Board Member of SAP’s International Banking Advisory Board from 2004 to 2006 and at various stages a Board Member of CD/Unexcor, Bankserv, AST-DTS, Rhodes University Advisory Board, etc. He was also a Board Member of a few companies within the Silverbridge Group (AltX listed), namely SDT and OnesandZeros. He was a member of the FirstRand Board Sub-committee for IT, Group IT Risk Committee and chaired the monthly FirstRand CIO Meeting for a few years. Currently, he is a member of a number of Standard Bank IT Committees, inclusive of the Standard Bank Board Sub-committee for IT, Group IT Exco, Group IT Architecture Committee and Group IT Risk and Compliance Committee. Since 2008, Leon has provided IT Advisory and Management Consulting Services to a number of local and international companies, such as Ernst & Young, FirstRand Ltd, Standard Bank Group, Silverbridge Holdings, Eduloan, Gijima, Finbond, Sanlam, RDC Group, Paycorp and others. He has also presented IT Governance topics at a number of conferences and institutions the past few years, such as the Wits Business School, ISACA, Oracle, etc.

Leon is a MCom graduate and spent more than 30 years in banking and information technology. He was the Absa Group CIO from 2000 to 2006 and in 2002 he was the CIO of the Year in South Africa. As Group Executive in Absa, Leon also had the opportunity of leading Group Enterprise Architecture, Group Change, Group Service Management and Support, Group Implementation, Group Information Management and the Data Governance Organisation. Leon also played a critical role in the merger of the four commercial banks that formed Absa in the early 1990's. He was a Board Member of the SAP International Banking Advisory Board from 2004 to 2006
