I grew up in our family owned businesses involved in agriculture (wine, game-farming and livestock), transport and logistics (road transport and aviation) and real estate (development, marketing and investment). I fell in love with nature at an early age and conservation has always been a precious passion - in particular biodiversity conservation in Africa. A perennial entrepreneurial spirit and business strategy is a gift I inherited from my Father and exposure to business in Africa, Europe and the Orient enriched and broadened my knowledge. In 2004 the Founding President of Namibia invited me to join the Namibian Parliament and Cabinet where I served as MP and Cabinet Minister until 2022. This unforeseen and unplanned journey unlocked an insatiable desire in me to serve a greater cause and bring about positive change. A lifetime of experience in, and knowledge of business and the intricate world of African politics has equipped me extremely well to add value as I continue to embrace the joy of serving to make as much difference as possible.

Honorable MinisterMinistry Of Public Enterprises Mar 2015 - Mar 2022NamibiaAs founding Minister I established the new Ministry of Public Enterprises and consolidated the ownership of all Commercial Public Enterprises under the new Ministry. I guided the formulation of new legislation, policies, corporate governance guidelines and reform strategies to improve the performance of these companies. The conceptualisation of the Ownership Policy for Namibian Public Enterprises to guide how, when and why the State should own Public Enterprises captures the essence of the role of these entities, and the State by implication, in the modern economy of Namibia and forms the basis of the future ownership model where a holding company is to be established to represent the role of the shareholder. This model also concluded the mandate of the Ministry as a standalone entity and the transfer of the remaining functions to the Ministry of Finance.
