MCSA, A+22 years IT experienceI view IT as an opportunity to facilitate increased productivity for users, by providing technology solutions and training in a timely and cost-effective manner. My success in applying this at Hunting Energy resulted in a highly stable, productive, and user-friendly environment. It also allowed me to reduce IT costs significantly. Some years, IT savings were sufficient that my labour was effectively free.During my 17 year tenure with Hunting Energy, I established a reputation for explaining complex technical concepts in plain English, and making appropriate proposals to the senior management team and the international IT team. As a result, I was trusted with larger independent projects, and with negotiating contracts.Having been a one-man shop for Hunting’s Canadian operations (albeit with support from Houston and other IT groups), I was accustomed to working with minimal oversight, and “getting the job done”. Within this mindset, I was never reluctant to reach out to others for advanced resources, when required. In an email from the current CIO when I was let go, he stated “I always knew you had things under control there in Calgary for us.”
