About Leon Peters

Check out my portfolio of projects and products: https://leonpeters.webflow.io/I was born in Leipzig but joined the expat life at a young age, developing a love for travelling between countries. Kindled by contributions to my Australian middle school’s ‘Tech Team’, innovation and technology have always strongly influenced my interests. Hence, I partook in the honours Bachelor of Science ' Technology, Liberal Arts, and Sciences' to experience a multidisciplinary blend between engineering and business-related social sciences. Through this, I developed my passion further for the socio-economical and technical implications of emerging and disruptive technologies. I vividly enjoy looking at how to manage innovation within products, technology, and processes through a primary focus on how tech influences business and society specifically within the Industry 4.0 context. I aspire to develop myself further as an innovation and technology leader by understanding how innovation can reshape future landscapes. This interest is continued through a Masters at the UT in Industrial Engineering, with a specialisation on Management of Product Development, but with focus also attributed to Emerging Technology Design. The master program is inherently project-based, with ample opportunity to apply theory in practice. The core principle I strive to live by is to always seek and engage with meaningful learning experiences. To learn about technological feasibility, innovation impact, and investment potential assessment, I gathered experience as the director of deal-flow for a student venture capital fund. My objective is to foster startup ecosystems, provide guidance to student founders, and facilitate entrepreneurship to make a positive impact on society. Similarly, to engage with Industry 4.0 concepts and technologies, I am part of an organisation team that is setting up a Learning Factory at the University of Twente. This facility allows students, researchers, and industry partners to learn about production environments, engage with state-of-the-art Industry 4.0 technologies, and experience production paradigms.Overall, I am developing skills in transdisciplinary collaboration, entrepreneurship, complex sociotechnical problem solving, Industry 4.0 implementation, management of product development, and technology & innovation management. Ultimately, I seek to lead product development teams, developing societally impactful consumer solutions.

This involved selection, exhibition floor planning, scheduling, accommodation and transportation arrangements, building up of products and projects, fixing any issues, and ensuring all participants have a smooth experience at DDW. From this experience, I truly learned how to deal with chaos, how to effectively communicate to a large audience of project owners, how to coordinate and ensure all necessary resources are present when required, and most of all, ad-hoc problem solving. I shall continue this work by being this year's Production Manager for the 4TU research initiative: Design United, directly working alongside the director in charge. For DesignUnited, the largest dutch design research agency, I took on the task as project manager for their involvement at the Dutch Design Week 2023. My responsibilities were focused managing eMagazine project contribution pipeline, took organisation of various elements of the project presence at DDW, and helped to curate the various innovative product design projects.
