I have recently started a new position at the AMRC as a Senior Project engineer. As part of the role I will be tasked with bidding for, planning and executing a number of medium TRL manufacturing research projects for both AMRC partner companies, and the broader research community. My work is set to have an initial focus upon the grinding of novel materials, however, I plan to undertake research across a broad range of subject areas, not least that of novel metalworking fluid strategies (where my background is based), emerging manufacturing technologies and sustainable manufacturing.

Over the past four years I have worked both at the AMRC and the broader University of Sheffield undertaking an EngD with the following working title: "Cryogenic and CO2 coolants during machining of next generation aircraft grade materials".

I was recently given the opportunity to co-lead a short term research project at the AMRC focused upon Ionized air cooling strategies. As part of the project I oversaw a novel machine retrofit, undertook complex machining trials and ultimately prepared results for visualisation.

Over the time which I spent at SCX special projects, I managed the build of two large gantry cranes for nuclear decomissioning. The project involved the oversight of both mechanical and electrical snag resolution, in concert with general construction and preperation for FAT. Aside from the main body of work, I was also tasked with the project management of the design stage of a semi-goliath crane to be used in nuclear waste removal.

I acted as a teaching assistant for a 1st year mechanical engineering module focused upon the development of a reaching aid for individuals with a limb impairment. As part of the role I advised 20-30 students on good engineering practices, manufacturing standards and presentation norms. The work also required the GTA to undertake project management on behalf of the students.

As part of my role at Swift I generated manufafturing route cards from customer specification and engineering drawings. Additionally, I helped to manage the bill of materials (BOM) by establishing the material requirements associated with each order and relaying that information onto the procurement team.
