Communication with parents/guardians of absent students, visiting at home/within the community to ensure welfare of the students and strategies that can help reintegrate back in to school.• Remain aware of the needs of children, especially those with special educational needs and in vulnerable positions.• Keep accurate records or cases, referrals, issues and concerns.• Ensure the safeguarding policy is available and easily accessible to everyone in theschool community.• Liaising with alternative provisions to complete due diligence.• Using attendance data and analysing patterns to proactively increase studentattendance and collaborate with SENCO ensure needs are met • Managing and keeping CPOMS up to date.• Attending/coordinating reintegration meetings.• Ensure staff safeguarding training is up to date.• Work in partnership with colleagues and parents to reduce anti-social behaviour• Attend early help and child in need meeting and assist with relevant information.

An Advocate at The Austen Academy works within an SEN alternative provision for children who have been unable to sustain a place in mainstream education due to complex behaviour and additional needs including autism.Day to day, Advocates work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and teaching staff to assess each pupil’s educational, behavioural and emotional need – and devise tailored support programmes to meet them. These sessions and interventions could include family support, individual mentoring, and focus groups. Having the core belief that children learn better and are happier when their emotional needs are met.

Working closely with class teachers you will be helping pupils to expand their knowledge and play a positive role in school life. Main tasks were, to monitor and evaluate programmes on a daily basis, manage and support children with challenging behaviour, work inside and outside the classroom with individuals and look after children’s physical, social and emotional welfare.
