My and my teams role role is to provide a consistent structure for reporting of our performance and building insights for Balancing Programme which is delivering key future capability for our control room which keeps the light on for the nation. This include the delivery of Balancing Trials which allow us to Learn by Doing, which are dynamic trials which are set up to understand impact of emergent technologies and to feed this into future requirements of the toolkit available to our business. In addition we are building analytical insights of how the activities of the control room is going to change given the rapidly changing energy industry. We also report the activities to the wider industry through regular engagement events and specific targetted communications as part of the process of the trials with which we run

My role is to manage a group of analysts that provide modelling which feeds into the commercial department. The role also requires planning of resources to manage a number of short notice requests versus longer term projects, The team provides tools (half way house between user developed tools and full blown IT projects), modelling and analysis which support the strategic development of the current set of services used to manage the electricity system and derive the operational requirements to ensure we meet out security and quality of electrucity supply

My role as Commercial Development Manager is to ensure the team provides support to other National Grid teams that build and deliver the Commercial Strategy from approx. year ahead into real time. This support is provided by ensuring that we are adequately prepared for change and the impacts of those change through development of systems, models, tools, Commercial Balancing Services and Future Market Analysis. The role is effectively an internal consultancy where the team manages a number of Projects which ensure our future preparedness.
