My contract role on the TLS-5 project was technical lead and FPGA engineer. The project goal is to update current mode-3 ILS system to accept mode 5 signaling. Review FPGA system architecture for modification of functions to accept Mode 5 MSK signals. Create waveform models of Mode 5 MSK signals. Use models to produce waveform files that are input to FPGA for processing. Compare captured waveforms to synthesized waveform for model correctness. Digital Signal Processing analysis and modeling of input waveform over 4 channels, DDC to baseband, Filtering, IQ to amplitude phase. VHDL design and implementation of FSM for capture of IF IQ signals converted to amplitude and phase information from multiple antenna inputs for location processing by base computer. FPGA module development, resource estimation, Modelsim HDL simulation

My Role included serving as the technical lead on the following project: “Trident Alternative Position, Navigation and Timing“. In this role my specific tasks included: Analyzing FPGA architecture for modification, to include sub-carrier low pass filter, signal turn around modification, ranging, datalink. Writing VHDL code and simulation of additional logic and register storage for accurate time-transfer measurements with decoding for embedded processor access. Architect and implement control software for each end-point (ground, satellite, user terminals and modems), to include overall control, Datalink protocol, system simulator protocol, time-transfer and ranging control and protocol.
