Plant Manager and Chief Steam Engineer of 25 MW Cogeneration Biomass Power Plant.Plant had 22 employees and operated as a stand-alone facility with responsibility for all except the initial long-term agreements. Began employment during the Plant construction therefore my involvement included installation, commissioning, start-up, systems development (electronic, personnel, & procedures), operations and re-engineering.

1000 TPD Kraft Pulpmill and Sawmill Complex purchased by Weyerhaeuser Canada from Procter & Gamble Cellulose, Ltd. in 1992.Chief Steam Engineer (First Class) overseeing the Chemicals and Utilities Business Unit. Including day-to-day and long-term process operation, maintenance and project responsibilities.Improved Recovery Boiler operation from being a plant bottleneck, by reducing variability, removing process inhibitors and increasing reliability, with minimal capital expenditure. Overall improvement resulted in increased throughput of 36%. The Recovery Boiler heat release was increased from .8 to a 1.1 million Btu's per square foot of floor area, this was the highest in North America.Provided coaching to Process Engineers, Process Masters, Shift Engineers, Capital Project Leaders and Corporate Single Sourcing and Boiler Relifing Teams.Corporate Audit Coordinator for Boiler Systems Audits (19 Plants) across North America. Led an effort to make Audits more effective by developing extensive check sheets for each audit area, which resulted in an organized process and more in-depth audits. Implemented the use of electrical and instrumentation personnel for auditing, to better penetrate the safety of DCS and PLC installations.Led the installation of a Polysulphide chemical production process, new to North America.Led effort to negotiate annual utilities contracts (electrical and gas) for the Plant site that resulted in the lowest purchased energy cost per unit of production of all Kraft Pulp mills in Canada.Held daily meetings to establish a better interface between maintenance and process personnel.Worked at improving overall mill reliability by utilizing advanced controls to minimize process upsets and boiler trips.Involved in leading a major rebuild of the Recovery Boiler.

1000 TPD Kraft Pulpmill and Sawmill ComplexManaged 22 technicians that supported total site welding needs. This included regular maintenance and project work such as building tanks, bridges, and new piping and equipment installations.Responsible for the Weld Quality, Pressure Vessel and Process Safety Inspection programs.Introduced 10 hour shifts to reduce costs and to provide additional coverage in the shop which reduced overtime and improved morale.Reduced site inventory by having vendor’s stock products locally and deliver on a just-in-time basis.

1000 TPD Kraft Pulpmill and Sawmill ComplexShift Engineer (Second Class) Manager on shift, responsible for Pulpmill and Woodroom Operations plus Fire and Safety responsibilities for the Sawmill.Brought shift team production from third position to first within the first year of management and maintained that position until changing assignments.
