Daily Production Duties Following FDA Standards-Aseptically process, culture, and plate (serial dilutions) 30-100 food and environmental samples to quantitatively enumerate indicator bacteria/yeasts/molds and qualitatively detect foodborne pathogens.-Extract and purify DNA from 100-1000 food and environmental samples in preparation of qPCR analysis to detect foodborne pathogens.-Perform pre-PCR sample preparations (2-14 384-well plates) using the Hamilton automated PCR Prep STARlet, followed by placing prepped PCR plates into Roche LightCycler.Special Projects-Validate PCR detection of listeria.-Investigate shelf life of various food products.-Perform quarterly third party profiency tests (enumerate indicator bacteria/yeasts/molds on a given sample).-Conduct interview panels and train new employees.
