Leonardo brings more than 19 years of experience in Retail Banking and Wealth Management with Citibank in different geographies. Throughout his career in Citibank, Leonardo has been based in Colombia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain and the United Arab Emirates.In January 2015, Leonardo Castillo was appointed as Director of the Citibank Retail and Wealth Management for the UAE and MENA Cluster based in Dubai. His responsibilities covered all the retail management functions including 250 employees, $2.5bn in client’s assets under management and a retail branch network covering Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah. Prior to his assignment in the United Arab Emirates, Leonardo was responsible for the Citibank Retail franchise in Spain where he acted as Director of the Retail and Wealth Management business and acted as the Vice-Chairman of Citibank Spain Board of Directors and Chairman of the Investment Supervisory Committee for the Wealth Management Business. Before settling in Spain, Leonardo was based in London working for the Citibank EMEA Wealth Management Region and later acted as the Director of Citibank Retail Bank and Wealth Management in the United Kingdom. Leonardo began his career in Citibank in Colombia, where he held various positions of responsibility before moving to New York with the Citi International Personal Banking for Latin America.The responsibilities held in Citi during all these years, in various countries and geographies have enabled him to accumulate extensive experience in Retail Banking, Personal Banking, Segment Management, Financial Control and Treasury Management. Castillo graduated from the Javeriana University in Bogota, Colombia and has completed a management diploma with concentration in finance and treasury at McGill University of Montreal (Canada). Leonardo has recently relocated back to the United States and has joined the LatAm Consumer Regional Office as the Head for Onshore CitiBusiness for Argentina & Colombia.
