I am a Cardiovascular Surgeon also trained in Transcatheter therapies for structural heart diseases. Therefore, I have a hybrid formation, skilled to perform both conventional open-heart surgeries, as well as minimally invasive transcatheter/endovascular procedures. I hold a PhD degree in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery from the University of São Paulo, Brazil, with the clinical research we conducted in Rheumatic patients undergoing transcatheter mitral valve-in-valve implantation. I’ve recently completed a 2-year Innovation fellowship program at Edwards Lifesciences in California, USA, where I worked with multidisciplinary teams to develop creative solutions for clinically significant unmet needs in the cardiovascular field. After this experience within the Medical Device Industry, I resumed clinical practice at Tampa General Hospital in Florida, USA, as a Thoracic Transplantation Fellow. Here, my goal is to help heart failure patients firsthand, by performing heart transplants and implanting mechanical circulatory support devices, while also applying my knowledge in innovation and medical device development and research to bring such innovative solutions to our patients.
