The Hutch is an incredibly dynamic environment that I'm proud to be part of.Some of the projects and systems I've worked on:Currently I'm focusing my energy on OnBase, the Enterprise Content Management solution. I manage all the pieces of this system, including the infrastructure/hardware, the development and coding, training of the admin staff and end-users; as well as the daily support and upkeep of the entire system. One of my primary roles is as an evangelist for digitization, automation, and efficiency. Helping departments throughout The Center see the advantages of this powerful tool.I've also worked with Exchange and Zimbra: supporting, upgrading, and improving those systems with automation scripts that improved reliability.

While in this position, my focus shifted from operational to more of an analyst function. I spent much of my time reviewing current processes, then identifying ways to automate, and improve.I led training efforts, and Root Cause Analysis sessions (RCAs). I scripted repetitive tasks using powershell, php, and lately have been exploring python and Flask as a tool to make software tools available in an easily accessible web interface.Recent Efforts:Working with our Audio/Video team to replace a Windows Media Streaming based delivery system with a modern and agile cloud based system.Rethinking the way we handle email and messaging. This includes some scripting of operational tasks, training IT staff on improved methodologies, and reducing the maintenance overhead in a way that frees senior IT staff to focus on higher level efforts.Coding CLI heavy tasks into simplified scripts that prompt for user input, then do most of the heavy lifting. This speeds up task completion, and eliminates the opportunity for user error.

One project I'm very proud of from my time at KCLS was taking ownership of the TrafSys People Counter system.We knew we were one of the busiest, and most innovative public library systems on Earth, but the system we used to count our many patrons needed some attention.I was tasked with improving reliability, which involved an overhaul of the entire process. I got in contact with the original developer of Trafsys, and together we debugged the code, and the SQL back end. I upgraded the servers, and replaced the cameras and counting devices. While tweaking the counters, I even recruited library staff to manually verify the electronic counts with manual counts. Often donating their own break time to stand at the front door with a clicker. We were determined to build an ethical system that neither over, or under-counted our patrons.By the time I left KCLS, we had built a nationally recognized system that organizations from across the country bench marked against. Also that year, KCLS was named the "Busiest and Best" library system on the continent. I'm proud and humbled by my contribution in that achievement.I also performed a wide variety of IT related duties including Linux, and Windows Administration; Cisco Network Administration; Bash, VBScript, and Power Shell scripting, and Data Center Management using Struxureware, and Infrustruxure Operations.

The mission of Your Network Guy was to provide small to medium businesses with full service IT support. A common scenario was to provide the network cabling, and RJ-45 wall jacks to connect new and existing worksations into a LAN, and install new, or upgrade existing servers in the environment. Once the local network was operational, we would provide hardware and software support, Internet and WAN connectivity, user management, and remote Helpdesk support to the customer.
