I am a civil engineer with a master's degree in Water and Sustainable Development, focusing on management and governance, from the IHE - Institute for Water Education, in Delft, the Netherlands. I have experience in sanitation projects in developing countries and specialize in the Condominial Sanitation methodology. While working on projects in Latin America, I realized the need to integrate the technical aspects of engineering with the social component as the only way to guarantee universal and sustainable access to water and sanitation.Looking for creative and innovative solutions for projects, I was introduced to spatial data field. The collaborative and active QGIS community made me realize that open-source software and open-access data are important allies in the challenges of the water and sanitation sector, especially in the context of an increasingly dynamic world. As a consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank, I put all my previous experience into practice by working on sewage collection network projects and coordinating the www.sanihub.org portal, which offers open-source software and courses for water and sanitation professionals. My knowledge of sanitation and data analysis led me to the solid waste management sector, where I work as a technology manager at the Central de Custodia.
