Prof. Dr Leonard Witkamp is a former dermatologist and director of KSYOS, the first digital hospital in The Netherlands. For four years, he has been appointed by the Royal Dutch Medical Association (KNMG) as Professor in TeleMedicine at the Department of Medical Informatics of the Academic Medical Centre in Amsterdam. He founded Ksyos in 2001. Ksyos develops health services that may add to increase efficiency of the primary healthcare process. Ksyos investigates the efficiency increasing potential of digital health services in cooperation with future users, thereby creating broad basic support. Ksyos subsequently takes care of the implementation and operation of these services in regular healthcare. Ksyos works together with a network of over 13.000 healthcare workers in cardiology, dermatology, ophthalmology, mental health and other disciplines. Over 250.000 patients visit Ksyos health workers annually. His experience as research fellow in market research, as university teacher and researcher, as practicing dermatologist and as professor has been an excellent base for his present work as director of Ksyos. By teaching, doing research and promoting the use of digital transformation in regular healthcare he helps to reach Ksyos' mission: to bring health to us all.
