He believes that everyone should be able to use and develop his talents, regardless of physical and metal limitations. He started his own project and company which enables people with a physical disability to work on (innovative) ICT-projects. René, who has cerebral palsy himself, is one of the most inspiring people I have ever met and I am grateful to support his project by being a member of the supervisory board.

At Herrie.nu I research the adoption of eHealth (and other healthcare information technology) among end-users (clients and professionals).Research has been conducted at organizations in mental healthcare (GGZ en VG) and homes for the elderly (VVT).The database consists of 200+ respondents that have indicated which organizational factors enables and encourages them to use technology. Differentations can be made to several demographic factors and personality traits.

For my master thesis I am conducting a study in cooperation with the RIVM to support their project "Combining resources in health care: How can we prepare our human resources to exploit our technological resources?"The goal of my thesis is twofold. First, to gain insight in the important factors that influence adoption of IT-innovation at health care institutions. Second, I research if the Strong Situation Hypothesis from Walter Mischel and Yuichi Shoda can be applied in health care settings.In this case, the strong situation hypothesis would show that health care institutions can heavily influence the outcome of user adaption of IT-innovations, regardless of personality traits from the potential user.My research design includes a vignette study in which respondents are presented multiple sets consisting of two scenarios varying in one or more variables. The respondents has to tick its most favored scenario. For my master thesis I designed a key management scheme for a wireless ad hoc network consisting of mobile nodes.
