As a Sports & Exercise Science practitioner, with demonstrable degrees of success thus far working in the sports industry, I strongly believe that what makes me stand out over my fellow sports industry peers is my strong desire and persistence towards becoming a professional athlete by enhancing my knowledge around and applying Applied Sports Science literature towards programming. This combination of curiosity and ambition has made me goal-oriented towards helping both individuals and teams surge beyond their self-proclaimed ‘genetic limitations’.As previously alluded to, I graduated from South East Technological University Carlow with a 1st Class Honours in Level 8 BSc (Hons) Sports & Exercise Sciences. As part of my degree, I completed a combined time duration of over 1 year of work placement as an assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach/Applied Sports Scientist. I was very fortunate enough to work within elite-level professional sporting environments such as St Kevin’s Boys/Bohemians Academy and St Fintan’s High School rugby teams for the Irish Rugby Institute. Within these settings, I worked across a broad age spectrum (U13-U20) and consequently attained valuable experience assisting in guiding teams towards high degrees of success by: (1) Following a personalised scientific approach and (2) Adapting my coaching styles and cooperation when working with various types of personalities.Furthermore, I am currently a Personal Trainer intern at The ABS Gym. With this internship, I am expanding upon my knowledge of personalising fitness interventions to each individual’s specific needs in order to attain greater body composition, strength & power results under the guidance of some of the country’s top personal trainers.
