At USAA, I worked as part of the Auto Experience organization, developing and maintaining software solutions to enhance automobile-related services and products. I contributed to building Java microservices using the Spring Boot framework, with some projects also incorporating Kafka consumers/producers and CouchDB for backend scalability and efficiency.In addition to backend development, I focused on creating web applications using React/Redux for the front-end. My responsibilities included implementing JavaScript unit testing with Mocha/Chai and functional testing with WebdriverIO to ensure the reliability and quality of the applications.Notable projects included the Purchase EVP, a mobile web application enabling users to purchase Extended Vehicle Protection, which was seamlessly integrated as a webview within Android and iOS mobile apps. Another key project was My Vehicles, a web application designed to help USAA members manage vehicle-related information and services.

I worked with a software development team in an Agile workflow to transform REST APIs into user-friendly web interfaces. Our team was responsible for the User Interface development and maintenance of AngularJS-based applications and successfully delivered several products within the Encore Cloud Portfolio (Large Enterprise Products for Cloud and Hybrid Computing).I collaborated with with software developers, product managers, and user experience designers across global locations to build software and systems that delivered significant value to stakeholders. Many of these teams included a mix of onshore and offshore members. I was also responsible for onboarding and mentoring new developers joining the team.In addition to UI development, I occasionally contributed code to Ruby and Python APIs integrated with MongoDB, Elasticsearch, and New Relic.I conducted thorough code reviews, including video code reviews, to ensure that our product codebases maintained a high level of quality and consistency.UI developers on our team were expected to include unit tests and mock data with every code submission to ensure high-quality standards. I contributed to improving the test coverage of our applications, including Unit Tests and End-to-End (E2E) Tests.For front-end development, we utilized frameworks such as Bootstrap, AngularJS, and Encore UI. For JavaScript unit testing, we relied on tools like Karma, Mocha, Chai, and Sinon to ensure the robustness and reliability of our code.

Responsible for Project Management duties including resource planning, scheduling, facilitating project flow, analyzing and addressing project issues, and coordinating with vendors. Works directly with partners and clients to determine project scope and specifications. Develops proposals and Statements of Work. Responsible for resolving complex issues and developing approaches or solutions that are often unique. Responsible for developing and documenting Web Development Lifecycle processes. Performs complex analysis and oversees delegation of components of analysis with more junior staff. Leads and oversees complex web projects by improving project flow, ensuring objectives are met. Reviews progress, directs resources, and ensures overall quality of completed website.

Develop Websites and Web-applications. Plan, setup, design and code Drupal themes. Optimize Websites for use in tablets and smart phones using responsive design techniques based on Bootstrap front-end framework. Plan, design, develop, test and deploy Ruby On Rails web applications.

Most projects include setting up a Website using WordPress as a CMS or a custom Ruby On Rails Web app. I also provide consulting services on topics related to search engine optimization and online tools recommendations. I currently serve clients from Laredo TX, Phoenix AZ, Calgary AB (Canada), San Pedro Garza Garcia NL (Mexico) and Guadalajara JAL (Mexico).

An essential function was to support and update UISD’s websites. During my employment in United ISD I worked on the following:* Redesigned the district’s main website 3 times.* Installed, configured and supported Red Hat and Windows servers.* Worked with both Microsoft Internet Information Services and Apache.* Developed PHP/MySQL Web applications: Conference room reservations and staff database search.* Setup iTunes store podcast.* From 2002 to 2004 I provided basic training to around 40 school teachers: Microsoft Frontpage, Adobe Photoshop and Swish.

I provided computer technical support for Mac and PC systems on two public elementary schools.
