As a Title Analyst on the Online and Digital Sales team I sold ebooks and audiobooks in the Canadian market. For ebooks, I sold McClelland & Stewart and select US commercial imprints such as Berkley, Putnam, and Dutton to retailers such as Kobo, Amazon, and iBooks. On the audiobook side, I sold the newly launch Penguin Random House Canada audio list to Audible and Kobo.

I was a product buyer and marketing coordinator for Scholastic Book Fairs Canada and Festival du Livre Scholastic. My focus was French books for children grades Pre-K to grade 6, and posters for children grades K to 8. My work included evaluating hundreds of children's books and media each year, meeting with vendors and negotiating a profitable deal, and marketing/merchandising the product to increase revenue. I also played a large role in managing inventory levels across our warehouses and analyzed sell-through reports to make decisions about future purchasing strategies. My marketing role included online marketing projects for Scholastic Book Fairs Canada and Festival du Livre Scholastic. I tracked the results of marketing initiatives to introduce the most successful English marketing programs to the French division. In 2014, I spearheaded the redesign of the Scholastic Book Fairs website to make it more streamlined, user-friendly, and lead generating. Beginning in 2015, I participated in the development of a Scholastic Book Fairs customer portal and an email marketing program (due to launch Fall 2016). In addition to taking on the project manager role when others were unavailable, I provided key marketing insight from the Discovery phase to the Development phase. I wrote all initial copy and revised it with recommendations from the team.

As the intern for the Sales department, I coordinated mailings to national accounts and sales reps across Canada and the US. I also created custom catalogs using Adobe Creative Suite programs.In particular, I worked closely with the Sales Director, Gifts and Special Sales and the Sales Director. Children's and Wholesale. I created specialized newsletters and managed the sales cycle in the sales campaigns for books on our niche market list by finalizing the pitch, emailing contacts, and following up by telephone.

As the intern at literary agency I had a large role in reading and evaluating unsolicited manuscripts. I wrote detailed reader reports of the manuscripts' strengths and weaknesses and made recommendations to the agents. I also edited client manuscripts and provided feedback either in person or over the phone. For non-fiction books, I draft book proposals and pitch letters.

In this position I managed a team of 35 people and coordinated the sale of ad space for the magazine's print and online editions. As most of the team had little sales experience, a large part of my job was setting sales targets, training the team with best sales practices, and providing feedback and encouragement. Within 6 months, the team exceeded the targeted revenue of $14,000.I also developed and executed the marketing strategy for On the Danforth magazine by working closely with the editors of the print and online editions. Our marketing included the use of social media, printed promotional materials and promotional events in the Danforth area. Overseeing the distribution and circulation of the magazine was also included in my role. On the Danforth was distributed to home in the Danforth and in major tourist hubs across Toronto.

I worked in a francophone career development office and provided administrative and clerical support to the career advisors. I helped francophone residents of Ontario search for jobs and craft their resumes and cover letters. In this position I honed my bilingual editorial skills.

As the Activities Director, I led grade 7 and grade 8 students (along with their chaperons) on their end-of-year school trips to Montreal and Quebec City. In addition providing an educational and entertaining tour, I kept the entire itinerary on track by coordinating with bus companies, hotels, restaurants, and attraction. When necessary, I resolved conflicts and issues to ensure the students and chaperones had a stress-free trip.

As a sales associate at Purdy's Chocolates, I used my extensive product knowledge to make perfect recommendations to fickle customers. Chocolates are a popular gift item, so it was particularly important to me that every customer felt the care and attention that went into the preparation of each box. My favorite aspect of the job was creating lifelong Purdy's customers.

One of the most rewarding seasonal jobs I had as a student was working as a tour guide and ticket agent at this double-decker bus sightseeing company. As a ticket agent, I sold tickets to all the major Toronto attractions to tourists from around the world. This required a keen understanding of both the attractions and the varying tastes of tourists. As a tour guide, I provided an entertaining and educational tour about the wonderful city of Toronto--some times in 3 languages! Welcoming people to our city was always the highlight of my day.

As a greeter, cashier, and fitting room attendant, I contribute to overall customer satisfaction at Suzy Shier. A key part of my job was to anticipate customer needs, and upsell loyalty and reward cards.

I was part of the Outreach team, which aims to enhance the Sustainability Office's visibility on and off campus. My responsibilities included attending publicity events for the Office, and documenting the department's involvement. We used the photos and short summaries of the events to populate a new website and to revitalize the Sustainability Office's social media pages.
