Leonid Boytsov is a Sr. Research Scientist at Amazon AWS AI Labs (opinions are his own). His background includes academic training in language technologies (from Carnegie Mellon University) and applied mathematics (from Moscow State University). He serves as an ACL rolling review editor and co-advises students. An important by-product of his thesis research is an efficient and flexible library for k-NN search codenamed NMSLIB, which was created in collaboration with several other researchers. NMSLIB has over two million downloads and it was adopted by Amazon. It is also used in the TensorFlow similarity package.Leonid has (1) a strong background in computer science, language technologies, and applied mathematics; (2) an extensive 2+ decade experience as a professional computer scientist. Aside from information retrieval and natural language processing, he worked on adversarial robustness for computer vision, question answering, speech recognition, and financial systems. In August, November and December 2020 he produced top (at the moment of submission) neural and traditional runs on the MS MARCO document ranking leaderboard using his retrieval toolkit FlexNeuART.
