About Dr Leonie Royes

I am a qualified Clinical Psychologist with a deep passion for increasing access to mental health services, promoting anti-discriminatory practices, and enhancing representation within the profession. I completed my doctoral thesis exploring the experiences of Black mental health professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic, which fueled my commitment to research focusing on underrepresented groups, including the global majority.Currently, I work within an Adult Learning Disability Service, providing therapeutic interventions to support adults with complex needs. My approach integrates a range of evidence-based modalities, including Positive Behavioral Support (PBS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR) and systemic therapy.With a strong commitment to fostering inclusive mental health care, I aim to create a safe, supportive environment for all individuals, empowering them on their journey toward improved well-being and quality of life.
