For the past 15 years, Leonor's practice has been focused exclusively on immigration law and related matters. Leonor handles all aspects of immigration law and deportation defense. Leonor handles non-immigrant and immigrant visas including short term and long term H, L and TN professional, company transfer visas and the newer but very popular U visas for victims of crime.Leonor is also experienced in Immigration litigation such as deportation defense, asylum and other relief available to those in deportation proceedings. This includes Lawful Permanent Residents who find themselves in deportation proceedings because of convictions or other grounds of inadmissibility as well as applicants for Temporary Protected Status, NACARA, and Cancellation of Removal. In 2009, Leonor helped establish, coordinate and schedule the Pro Bono Initiative with the Salt Lake City Immigration Court. She continues to participate monthly in assisting detained non-citizens who cannot afford an attorney. In addition, Leonor handles immigrant visas in all family sponsored categories such as immediate and non-immediate relatives of US citizens and permanent residents including fiancee visas, adopted children and step-children. Her practice also includes representing survivors of domestic violence who may also be eligible for immigration status. Leonor also handles employment sponsored immigrant visas for all professions, including architects, engineers, computer specialists, nurses, physical therapists, college professors, researchers, etc.Leonor is also an immigrant, having come to the US with her family at the age of 6 from Uruguay. Leonor speaks fluent Spanish and regularly translates documents.
