Lead the product teams that span all Discovery surfaces on Pinterest (Home, Search, and Related). Current initiatives I'm leading across Pinterest include:- Growing overall engagement and usage of Pinterest.- Changing our distribution systems to account for creator outcomes and success.- Growing the presence of native content and video on Pinterest.

I work on Pinterest's feed products and the underlying platform that powers all of them. This includes Pinterest's Home page (the Home Feed), the Following Tab, and topical feeds. Some problems I've helped Pinterest solve through working on these products include:- Localizing our content and scaling internationally- Making our feeds dynamically change based on user interactions- Defining how creators succeed on Pinterest- Improving the quality and relevance of the content we serve

Significantly improved engagement on the Home Feed through improvements in content quality and recommendation relevance and redesigned The Grid across all Pinterest surfaces.

- I designed and built the backend for Topic Feeds, which is the largest single source of recommendations on the Homefeed. Topic Feeds consist of Pins related to Topics a user follows.- Topic feeds power the new user experience and the introduction of the feeds was the largest ever mover of new user activation on Pinterest.- I built the infrastructure for populating and serving feeds. Also build the first machine learning pipeline for the system to classify Pins into different feeds.- Build and productionized the first version of user annotations, which is the primary content signal used for personalization and recommendations.

- Worked on the Android/Mobile team- Built the ability to see photos within places on the Android app.- Rewrote backend for posting status on Android to avoid race conditions.- Built the ability to detect and display when the phone has no internet connectivity within the app.

- Graded assignments, taught sections, held office hours

- Quantified the ability of EM algorithms to predict gene regulatory networks using data from the 1000 Genomes project.

- Wrote and graded assignments for undergraduate level natural language processing courses.- Created exercises and helped developed infrastructure to allow the course to be made public to over 70,000 enrolled students outside of Stanford. Also wrote autograders for online assignments so that students enrolled outside of Stanford could receive a grade for the course.

- Taught section of students from CS106A and CS106B- Graded assignments and exams and held weekly office hours.

- Worked on the Search Analytics team. Wrote first ever trending keywords algorithm for Amazon search which improved search results for 10.5% of all keywords searched on Amazon.

- Modeled novel enzymatic reactions in a genetically modified E. coli strain created to regulate the T-cell levels of its host organism.- Constructed and characterized a novel tryptophan sensor which can detect a synthetic tryptophan analogue. - Gathered over $70,000 of funding from professors and venture capital firms such as Sequoia Capital, Flagship Ventures, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Mohr Davidow Ventures, and Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers.
