The Commonwealth Youth Forum is an event for 300+ young people from across the Commonwealth and will play host to over 50 speakers which will include Prime Ministers, Presidents and Royalty.This work is coordinated by the Commonwealth Summit Unit - a cross Government Unit that brings expertise from within and outside of Government to deliver this work. Kicked off this role by launching the ‘Pathway to CHOGM’ with the Prime Minister, in New York.I also escorted the Prime Minister and co-facilitated a round table with young people from the Commonwealth Youth Forum and Prince Harry.To close the Commonwealth Youth Forum I joined the Prime Minister, one last time, at the Skygarden to 'hand over the baton' to 53 Heads of Government ahead of their closed meetings. -

Council For Young People - MemberNorth East Lincolnshire Council Jan 2005 - Aug 2010Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, GbThe Council for Young People (CfYP) is the only youth council in North East Lincolnshire.Throughout my time there I was involved in hundreds of different projects from facilitating and speaking at conferences to the creation of the C-Card - a kitemark card that issued young people with free condoms; no questions asked. I've reviewed council policies, evaluate youth services including Connexions, challenged schools, MP's and Councillors, appointed heads of service, attended national conferences, worked with the local press and public, chaired meetings, participated in numerous debates, supported the worker with admin, established the young mayors programme, worked with Democratic, Childrens, Inclusion, Education and Health services, young offenders, youth workers and most importantly other young people. The CfYP has been at the heart of developing young people's focused policies and enhancing the democratic process for young people around the area. It's the borough leader and the go-to group on all things to do with participation and youth governance. -

My main role was to serve alongside elected members and:•Scrutinise Local Authority Executive Director, elected Portfolio holders, service Directors/employees;•Effective scrutiny of service providers for children and young people; •Reporting to the Press/Public;•Advising on Service development improvement and implementation in line with national Government policy;•Making recommendations to the Panel;•Reporting to Cabinet;•Appointing Director vacancies. -
Home To School, Home To College Select Committee - Co-Opted MemberNorth East Lincolnshire Council Jan 2008 - Apr 2008Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, GbScrutinising providers of education transport for young people and children alongside elected Council members.This involved interviewing people - from road safety officers to executive directors - formulating recommendations which were then sent to Cabinet, and tracked over a set time period. Part of the role was also to attend scoping meetings and post-panel evaulation sessions. The actual time frame is hard to distinguish because of the 'tracking' process. A positive outcome was a new pricing structure for young people ending years of discrimination from transport group Stagecoach. -
