About Dr. Leo Parvis

I am an award-winning educator, trainer, public speaker and program coordinator with a passion fordiversity, equity and inclusion. I engage and encourage varied audiences to understand diversity in acomplex world and to support social change. There are different ways to educate stakeholders, and I dothis through teaching, public speaking, and writing. I developed advanced communication andleadership skills through attainment of the DTM (Distinguished Toastmaster) designation and am anauthor of numerous publications. Well-traveled and fluent in both English and Persian, I have had theprivilege of witnessing multiple cultures and ways of life.DEVELOPING CULTURAL INTELLIGENCE IN STUDENTSDesigned, coordinated, and facilitated over 100 cultural diversity forums for students, faculty and staff.Developed and taught diversity courses in the classroom and remotely at Dunwoody College. Thesecourses were highly interactive and encouraged awareness and acceptance of individual differences.RAISING AWARENESS THROUGH TRAINING AND PUBLIC SPEAKINGCreated content and delivered over 50 public speaking engagements related to diversity, equity andinclusion. Audiences included colleges and universities, corporations, nonprofits, and public sectororganizations. Also provided training to over 600 K-12 students in Minnesota.GENERATING CURIOUSITY AND LEARNING THROUGH PROGRAM COORDINATIONDeveloped, organized, and led cultural diversity forums inviting subject matter experts, celebrities, andhigh profile speakers to share their experiences and perspectives. Also planned and led programming formultiple community events.LEAVING LEGACY THROUGH WRITING AND PUBLICATIONWrote and published three books on DEI and one titled “Understanding Cultural Diversity in Today’sComplex World” became a textbook used for teaching diversity classes at the college level.
