Violinist Leonid Sushansky has garnered acclaim from The Washington Post for his "gorgeous tone" and "compelling musical personality" and has been described as "astonishing" by The New York Times. He made his Carnegie Hall debut in 2005 and has performed with numerous orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, Bergen Philharmonic, and Romanian State Philharmonic, in prestigious venues worldwide. Sushansky began his musical studies with his mother and later trained at Juilliard under Dorothy DeLay, also receiving guidance from Isaac Stern. At 15, he made his New York Philharmonic debut at the invitation of Zubin Mehta, performing the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto.Sushansky completed graduate studies at the University of Maryland and has toured extensively, including recent performances at the Kennedy Center and Berlin Philharmonie. As Artistic Director of the National Chamber Ensemble, he continues to perform widely, including recitals and appearances with orchestras in Washington, D.C., and internationally.An esteemed educator, Sushansky teaches at the Levine School of Music and has served on the faculties of University of Mary Washington and the Academy of Fine Arts in Maryland. His students have gone on to careers in music, with many attending prestigious conservatories. Sushansky has won numerous awards, including the Outstanding Young Emigre Musician Award and the New York Philharmonic National Young Artists Competition.
