Development EngineerHf Systems Engineering Gmbh & Co. Kg Nov 2015 - Jul 2019Kassel Area, GermanyMain projects:The ULTRAWAVE project is aimed at developing a high capacity backhaul that enables 5G cell densification by exploiting bands beyond 100 GHz. New travelling wave tubes delivering high power will allow the creation of an ultra capacity layer providing more than 100 Gbps per kilometre square in Point to Multi point at D-band (141 – 174.8 GHz) fed by novel G-band (300 GHz) Point to Point high capacity links. The ULTRAWAVE system is empowered by the convergence of three main technologies: vacuum electronics, solid-state electronics and photonics. This ULTRAWAVE layer will enable backhaul of hundreds of small and pico cells, no matter the density, opening scenarios for new network paradigms aiming at a full 5G implementation.http://ultrawave2020.eu/TWEETHER is a research project funded by European Commission under H2020 "Future Internet: Software, hardware, Infrastructures, technologies and services." The objective of the TWEETHER is to set a milestone in the millimetre wave technology with the realization of the first W-band (92-95 GHz) wireless system for distribution of high speed internet everywhere. The main project target is to realise the millimetre wave Point multi Point segment to finally link fibre, and sub-6 GHz distribution for a full three segment hybrid network, that is the most cost-effective architecture to reach mobile or fix final individual client. Our contribution to TWEETHER is the integration of the transmit/receive system, in which the biggest challenge is the realisation of the W-band (92-95GHz) wireless transceiver. The task is successfully accomplished, the achieved transmitted power surpass the 100 mW threshold. Our contributions also include the fabrication of slow-wave structures for W-band travelling wave tube which require high precision milling process with mirror-like surface finish, the realization of W-band waveguide bandpass filter, and the fabrication of antenna including a lens antenna.https://tweether.eu/

Research Scientist, Team LeaderTechnische Universität Darmstadt Nov 2011 - Oct 2015Darmstadt Area, GermanyAt Institute for microwave technology and photonics (IMP) I had the chance to develop my own research interest. The chosen main topic was microwave photonics that studies the use of photonic devices as microwave functions and the use of optical systems for improving microwave transmission. The topic combines the strength and advantages of the two worlds and opens a whole new technology. It also allows the application of my knowledge and experience in photonics to extent the main research direction of the team. My main research interests were:- The integration of radio ultra-wideband (UWB) into passive optical network (PON)- Capacity extension of Passive optical network (PON) using optical amplification- The use of tunable MEMS-VCSEL in optical communications- Optical computing -
R&D ScientistFrance Telecom Sep 2010 - Sep 2011Lannion, FranceAfter finishing my PhD program, I joint Orange Lab - France Telecom as a R&D scientist in an R&D team working on optical access networks. The my main mission was coordinating the field trial of the SARDANA project funded by European commission under FP7 "The network of the future." SARDANA aims at combining the WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) and the TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) dimensions to reach the extra-large user-density. The resulting network is able to serve more than 1000 users with symmetrical several hundred Mbit/s, spread along distances up to 100 km, at 10Gbit/s, in a flexible way, also supporting multi-operator service. The challenge was high. The field trial as well as the demonstration at FTTH Council Europe in Milan was a big success. SARDANA project won "Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award 2011." -
Phd CandidateFoton Lab Oct 2006 - Sep 2010Lannion, FranceMy thesis topic was: "Optical regeneration for high-bit-rate long-haul transmission systems" Future optical high-bit-rate and long-haul links will need the use of simple and cost-effective devices to replace some of the existing optoelectronic repeaters in order to enhance the performance and reduce the cost. A key component is microcavity saturable absorber, which is particularly interested for this type of application. In this thesis, we propose theoretical and experimental studies of all-optical regeneration for optical transmission systems. It was a great journey, a true adventure! The PhD program was my first professional experience that was both educational and emotional. There were challenging and intriguing moments when tackling a new problem or starting a new experiment. There were exciting moments when good results were obtained. There were happy moments when manuscripts were accepted for publication in journals or conferences, but also there were tough moments when receiving rejection notices. The success brought the joy of fulfilment and the recognition of the community. The failures brought surely bitterness but they did also bring valuable lessons and the desire to try again and to do better. Completing the PhD program was an achievement that I am always proud of. It was surely about the result and the number of publications and their impact in the scientific community, it is indeed a great pleasure to see that my publications keep being cited today. It was also about many lessons that I had learned. I am so thankful that the experience had taught me Discipline and Professionalism.
