What's the hardest thing about being an Engineer? You want to solve every problem and you want to be really good at it. Ever since I was young I always wanted to have a career where I could put my diverse skillset to good use. Until I discovered engineering I would wonder how people could choose one career. I wanted to be everything. I wanted to build things, I wanted to design things, I wanted to change the world and make a difference to people. I have always been very charitable, but I've also been extremely goal-driven. I have a very creative imagination and enjoy organizing, socializing, creating, and everything in between. My goal as an engineer is to never be complacent, but to always strive to do the best I can and to work harder. While I was in school I discovered several things about myself:1. I am very good at balancing my priorities:- I finished school with my Civil Engineering degree while juggling spending time with my daughter, homework/projects/studying, President of ASCE, Secretary of TSPE, as well as spending time with family on weekends. I also have a daily commute and a research project. 2. I am very skilled in organizing and coordinating:- I am past Fundraising Chair of ASCE where I coordinated monthly volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and was able to see my ideas come to life for all our fundraising opportunities. I am also past Project Manager for our concrete canoe competition where I helped manage all our meetings for mix design, mold, graphic design, etc. with our team members.3. I can be a perfectionist, but I am still efficient and think early is on time:- I take on everything full force as I am one of those people who can't do anything half-way. I will see things through to the end and make sure that they are perfected to the best of my ability. I tackle everything head on and am always sure to plan accordingly so it is finished in a timely manner. I hope to use all of these skillsets in my career.
